Originally subtitled Song of Myself after Walt Whitman’s poem, this piece is a rarity in Roland’s collection—both in its scale and subject. Inspired by sculptures from ancient China and Rome, it carries echoes of classical forms and craftsmanship.

Unlike many of Roland’s works, where figures carry unseen burdens, here the subject carries
something else—something visible, yet unseen by others.

As editions sell, the price increases to reflect scarcity, rewarding early collectors and ensuring the value of earlier acquisitions.
